Some guy trying to get a No Robocall Registry passed

Okay, so why haven’t I seen this guy before? This “CEO” Shaun Dakin has taken up arms against the robocall industry. Not that I knock the guy for trying, but to pick on other, non-political uses? This is exactly the thing I was talking about. Some crazy person who hates one form of robocall trying to use the same logic to kill the whole industry and the possible good of a prerecorded message. Wait until his child is in the custody of some Child Predator, and because of his “championing” he gets robocalls banned across the US. The robocall to his neighborhood alerting them of a predator falls can’t go out and the overburdened police station doesn’t have time to hand out the fliers. Then he will change his mind.

Here’s the article, I won’t dignify him with anything more than a link for SEO purposes:

I decided to write a reply, but he has to moderate the response. Since my email to his organization went unanswered, let’s see if he has the gall to post my response. Instead I will post it right here.

This guy is serious? He belongs standing on a soapbox during the Temperance Movement in the 1920’s. The only thing you are trying to do is kill an emerging technology for personal gain. What exactly do you hope to achieve? 50K people signed up to your registry. I bet none of them vote anyways.

If you really want to stop robocalls, you do what I tell all the loonies that call my company swearing that I put out “their” robocall they received. I tell them to go down to the County Board of Elections and delete your number from your registration card.

Your registry only permits the lazy people to log online so they don’t have to leave their house. You aren’t doing America a favor! You are permitting Americans to not voice their choice at the polls because they got upset at a robocall. Would you prefer they used taxpayer money to “frank” us?

CEO, I laugh at you! Your site response is about as responsive as the politicians’ websites. We get a “thank you for” email and nothing. So what do you hope to accomplish?

Other people can’t afford to microchip their pets so they can be found via GPS. In the case of lost cats, most people just take in strays without knowing they were someone else’s pet. Wouldn’t it be nice if your pet was returned?

100 people in your neighborhood looking for a pet is better than 1 or 2. If you are annoyed, hang up the phone. I guess you aren’t as nice of a pet owner as you painted yourself out to be.

Other people actually love their pets and they aren’t trying to be lazy about it, like you. Another reason why prerecorded phone calls are a technological resource.

What’s next? Child Predator calls into your neighborhood an invasion of privacy? It just goes to show that you are contributing to the breakdown of the neighborhood concept. I would hate to be your neighbor, I could die on my front lawn and you would complain I was bleeding all over it. Get a Life!

I then challenged him to print it. He won’t just like he won’t reply to my email. I really can’t stand people who try to stand for something that have the largest holes you can drive a truck through. I don’t have to agree with his position, but attacking a robocall company because pet owners find it useful? That’s un-American! I love pets and I would like to see my pet returned by a caring neighbor. It is all about Karma. If someone does a kind thing for you, you will do a kind thing for someone else. This guy can go back to his Fortress of Solitude with the other 50,000 non-voting people on his registry. Nothing but a bunch of complainers.

I came home from my annual 1000 Island 4th of July camping excursion and found a little Jack Russell Terrier sitting on my porch with no collar. I talked to neighbors until I found the owner. I did this out of the kindness of my heart because I would hope someday, someone will do the same for me. That’s being neighborly and apparently Dakin doesn’t understand that concept.

He never had the gall. He actually took away the ability to have anyone post on his articles. Which goes to show that he neither cares about anyone but himself and would never stand a chance against me in an open debate. The fact that he doesn’t have the courage to post a dissenting opinion shows that he won’t even acknowledge me.

A leader willing to stand up for the rights of private citizens does so behind his desk and away from prying eyes. Yeah that’s the guy I want leading my cause. A tough guy on paper I call it.

I would challenge him to a debate any day and time, provided the host flies me wherever he plans to hold the debate. I guarantee that the vast majority of people on his registry don’t even vote. They aren’t concerned citizens, nor do they care what is happening to this country.
